On 9 December 2011 the Federal Council approved the totally revised version of the Federal Information Technology Ordinance (FITO) and the Federal Administration's ICT strategy for the period 2012 to 2015.
What are the main changes?
The totally revised FITO, which came into effect on 1 January 2012, changes the tasks, competencies and responsibilities for the controlling and management of ICT services at federal level. This has consequences for the ICT organisation of the departments, the Federal ICT bodies and the Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU). As a result, business processes and cooperation tools need to be reviewed and adapted where necessary.
Federal Information Technology Ordinance (FITO)
The Federal ICT strategy 2012-2015 is central to the implementation of the FITO and provides the framework for federal-wide specifications on the use of ICT services.

Change measures will be gradually implemented over the period 2012-2013. Transitional rules will apply in every area until the measures are fully implemented.
