Strategic IT Planning (SIP) forms the interface between the Confederation's strategic requirements (Federal ICT Strategy) and their actual implementation in the departments.
Within SIP, the departments and administrative units define the positioning and the direction of IT in their areas over a planning horizon of 3-4 years. For this purpose, the current situation, the future needs, and the expected developments are evaluated within SIP. SIP must be verified periodically (every 1-2 years) and adapted as necessary.
The uniform planning methodology ensures that the plans are consistent and can be consolidated within the Federal Administration.
