eGovernment Strategy Switzerland

Developed by the Confederation and the cantons

On 24 January 2007, the Federal Council adopted a national eGovernment strategy. It was developed in close cooperation with representatives of the cantons and the municipalities, under the direction of the FITSU. The strategy constitutes the basis for the Confederation, the cantons, and the municipalities to orient their efforts toward common goals. It also sets out principles, approaches, and instruments for implementation of these goals.

Coordinated implementation through a Framework Agreement and a Catalogue of Priority Projects

Implementation of the strategy is decentralised but coordinated, under the supervision of a Steering Committee and a Secretariat. The organisational structure of these coordination bodies is set out in the Framework Agreement on eGovernment Cooperation of the Confederation and the cantons.

To assist implementation, the projects to be coordinated and implemented are compiled in a catalogue. This Catalogue of Priority Measures is considered the most important implementation tool.
