The Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU) ensures implementation of the information and communication technologies (ICT) strategy in the Federal Administration. For this purpose, it issues guidelines for the administrative units and manages the ICT standard services. The FITSU also manages the eGovernment Switzerland Programme Office as well as the Reporting and Analysis Centre for Information Assurance (MELANI).

Whoever uses the same password more than once, helps attackers

08.11.2018 - The 27th semi-annual report of the Reporting and Analysis Centre for Information Assurance (MELANI) addresses the most important cyber incidents of the first half of 2018 both in Switzerland and abroad. The key topic is dedicated to the vulnerabilities in hardware. The focus is also on targeted malware attacks, for which the name of the Spiez Laboratory was misused, as well as various data leaks and the problem of multiple use of a password.

Survey of participation in NCS implementation plan

06.08.2018 - The implementation of the national strategy for the protection of Switzerland against cyber risks (NCS) is forging ahead. The Confederation is preparing the NCS implementation plan together with the cantons, businesses and higher education institutions. As part of this process, the FITSU has invited all interested players to register to participate in the NCS implementation via an online survey. The survey was implemented from 6 to 17 August 2018.

Federal ICT Master Plan 2018

18.04.2018 -  The Federal Council approved the Master Plan 2018 for the current federal ICT strategy. In addition to the milestones for implementing the strategy until 2019, the Master Plan defines a fundamental orientation for the further development of ICT. This focuses on the positioning of federal informatics in digitisation.

27.11.2017 - On 27 November 2017, the European Commission published the 14th eGovernment Benchmark report. Switzerland has improved year on year in almost all areas examined. There is need for improvement in the expansion of key technical modules.
